John Cameron Mitchell Live on Instagram
If you are on Instagram, look for @Johncameronmitchell, the creator of Hedwig & The Angry Inch. He is doing his stay-in-place in Palm Springs, sharing often poignant heart-warming live reflections about what is going on along with periodic songs and poetry readings, all via Instagram TV. He has also done some special online concerts (which you can buy tickets to see) so this is another good opportunity to support your favorite artists (I missed the most recent one but hope to catch one sometime soon).
I’ve been a fan of John Otway for decades and its been wonderful as the Internet has grown up he has evolved with it. From his website we’ve learned that “As we’re all currently shut indoors, we have made “Rock and Roll’s Greatest Failure: Otway the Movie” available to stream online for free.” Seriously folks, this guy is great. He more or less came up amidst the 70s punk/new wave movement and has written some amazing songs (and even had some hits in the UK!). But he’s known more for his flops (some literally) and he’s made that something of a life mantra. I think he’s anything but a failure. Anyone who can write a song like “Beware Of The Flowers ‘(Cause I’m Sure They’re Gonna Get You Yeah)” is alright by me! Anyone who could get Pete Townshend of The Who to produce and perform on his first single is OK by me too (click here)!
